An Ode to Luke and Lydia

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Lydia.
She was not a damsel in distress.
She had blonde hair and rosy cheeks
And blue eyes that sparkled like the moon over water.

She had big dreams of a beautiful wedding with her in it,
And she dreamed in colors of purple and ivory.
In between sleep and waking she saw things in lace and tulle.
She saw her prince charming standing at the alter too;
He was rocking to the beat of a familiar tune -
There were drums and an electric guitar hum and the feeling was nostalgic.

Lydia was a good spelling bee but that’s not why they called her “Speller”.
She buzzed about busily until she met her honey "Taylor".
He was the pollen to her ‘fleur’ and a clever prince indeed.
From a seed their love would grow into an ever blooming blossom tree.

One sunny day Luke proposed during a game of scrabble: “Will you marry me?”
“Of course!” she declared with black letters inside white squares.
There was a sweet celebration and all of her dreams came true;
There was even the smallest pair of the cutest purple shoes.

After all of that waiting now you can finally go (exit Lydia in her ivory Lela Rose)
To the Mayan Riviera in sunny Mexico!
It was her first time flying and so he held her hand so tight -
Be one with the sunset and enjoy your short flight!
All the best to you Lydia, all the best to you Luke!
May all of your dreams as a love team come true!
